Anne + Kevin’s Lakeside Wedding

A glimpse into Anne and Kevin’s lakeside wedding in their home town of Alexandria, Minnesota. Planned by Honeyhill Weddings.

Drove two hours northwest of Minneapolis to make it to the sweetest lake town of Alexandria. Starting the day getting ready in an a Martha Stewart worthy 1900s lakeside home where Anne and the bridal party got ready. Next door was the groom to be, Kevin, with his groomsmen in the family home of Anne’s. The entire day was all laughs and happy tears. Anne + Kevin have a love like none other. Nothing seemed to worry or bother these two, they were just elaited to get married with their friends and family by their side. Designed and Coordinated by Anne’s childhood best friend, Cassie, of Honeyhill Weddings, low key was the vibe but Summer Sweetness was all the feels. The ceremony took place at the shore of Lake Le Homme Diu. We had the most intense winds, so the umbrellas for the sun had to stay put away, and no old school boat sendoff post ceremony, but it still made for such a lovely ceremony keeping us all cool and feeling the energy of their love whip all around us. The rest of the evening was filled with so much laughter. The stories told by the father of the bride, the brother of the groom, and sister of the bride had us holding our bellies wiping tears away from the laughter. We ended the night barefoot, while Anne had her sister cut the train of her dress after the bustle broke. I guess there’s a first time for everything, and that was certainly one of them. This will forever be one of the best weddings I’ve ever had the opportunity to document.

Shot on 35mm film and digital format. Developed by Basement Labs. Scanned by me.

The Garamellas

The Garamellas, Aster Cafe

Minneapolis has its magic powers of bringing people together from all over - especially in the Yoga community. I met Rebecca and Jon through the yoga studio my partner and I go to, in Uptown, Minneapolis, called Heart Yoga. Rebecca had just moved to San Diego, CA, so we missed getting to take classes together, but she followed along on my instagram and we’d chat here and there. Then Jon proposed and my other friend that also moved to San Diego, (apparently it’s the place to be!) to check out my work. Next thing I knew I was flying out to San Diego (7 months pregnant and anxious to make one last trip on my own) to take their engagement photos. Now I can’t believe how fast the time has passed getting to shoot their wedding last weekend. It was so much fun - it’s always so special to get to photograph a friend’s wedding. It feels like a lot of my clients become friends in the end and I am forever grateful for that.

So cheers to that,
